My Grandmother use to say “every true thing should NOT be known”… And trust me, granny was right. Take for example this website that allows you to dig up your ancestry. I think it’s fair to say not too many black folks are logging on. And for many reasons… But if your ancestors got separated by CHOICE, don’t mean you should or want to know about them.

I don’t know about you, but if I found out my great-grandfather lost the family fortune in a dumb bet; and I end up living in poverty – or damn near in poverty – I don’t know if I could handle that. As a matter of fact I don’t know anyone who can just walk away from that kind of information. You can’t stand your job (or worse – your boss)… Your car is on its last mile and shit’s piling up all around you… The last thing you want to know is your great grand daddy played a major role in your financial struggles.

Again I say… I don’t know if I can handle that… There’s a reason why no one in your family ever talks about ‘ol great-granddaddy – the Fuck-up. His name doesn’t come up at family events because no one wants to remember the person who lost the family wealth. So why are you digging them up. Hell if your parents, aunts, or uncles don’t talk about them… You don’t need to know about them. If there isn’t a portrait of them hanging over the fireplace? You don’t NEED to know about them. So Today — The Ugly Truth is: EVERY TRUE THING SHOULD NOT BE KNOWN
