I am Trayvon Martin

Every once in a while we get that social “Two-by-Four” upside the head that leaves us wondering what the hell happened. Two weeks ago I was sitting in my office watching Al Sharpton’s coverage on MSNBC of how 17 year old Trayvon Martin was gunned down in Florida. The crazy thing is although it struck a nerve, I was not shock at what Rev Sharpton was reporting. The news of a black male getting gunned down in this manner is shamefully part of our country’s history. So what’s the social 2×4 in this story? It’s when the shooter has been identified and no arrest has been made. What an outrage. The Sanford Florida police questioned the gunman right after the shooting and not only did they let him go, they let him go with the murder weapon.

In 2008 we celebrated Barack Obama becoming the 1st black President of the United States and a feeling of pride swept the country. How far we thought we’ve come as a nation, but situations like the Trayvon Martin shooting surely reminds us how far we still have to go. There are those who would not like to view the shooting as a race issue. But how can anyone with the ability to use any one of their five senses not look at the evidence shown so far and not conclude this is about race. Hell it’s ALL ABOUT RACE… accompanied with the incompetence of Norton Bonaparte, Jr. (Sanford, Florida city manager). Are you really trying to tell me that if a black man had gunned down a 17 year old white male, the black man would have went home?

When this story first broke, my immediate thought was how much coverage Fox News was going to give it. And if they did cover it, how long was it going to be before they flip the blame on Trayvon Martin. And true to their game of inciting hate, Geraldo Rivera couldn’t hold himself back from blaming the hoodie Trayvon Martin was wearing as the cause of the shooting. According to Geraldo’s belief if I want “my” teenage son to come home alive from the corner store he better not wear a hoodie. Conservatism at Fox News means conserving the good ‘ol days when blacks sat in the back of the bus. Will Smith said it best in a Tweet over the weekend; “We live in America where a girl that threw flour on Kim Kardashian was arrested on site. But the man who KILLED Trayvon Martin is still free” And I agree… the only pill for the headache from this two-by-four over the head is the arrest of George Zimmerman and charge him with committing a HATE CRIME. Stop trying to try this case in the court of public opinion and arrest George Zimmerman so the legal process can take its course

Alot of people tend to think they can put the law into their own hands which is the most ridiculous thing you can do. Situations like these put the calm of communities at risk. And to top it all off, The man didn’t get any type of reprimand for his actions. This makes you think… If my child wears a hoodie, will she be shot, targeted or judged negitavely? WTF This was about racism not clothes. If we rioted over this what do you think those in power would do? If this were one of us in the “hood”, what do you think they would do to us? This is proof that as far as we come as a people, all that negativity still follows as fast as some of us run away from it. I guess we weren’t shooting each other enough. How is this OK?

Well this topic is very hard to digest . As a parent when we loose a child do to violence it’s every parents concern.People this day of age is very ignorant. This young man life was taken why? Because the block watch person is a #sshole. And he wants to play a fake super hero
No gun permit wow if the skin was a black man law enforcement would of hang him dry. This ant brain of a duck used wrong judgment. Is he going to shoot every black man that wears a hoodie . Trust our voices will be heard. And another advice to everyone.Screen who ever you trust to be a neighborhood watch.

I understand you 100 percent Cottic but why is it that every time when it has to do with death that everyone comes together… dont get me wrong I do want world peace but at the same time killing someone isn’t a great way to make the peace… SMH people need to find a new way to deal with the anger they have built up inside of them and KILLING is not one of them for real!

This shit is already out of controll, how the F%ck is this 2012 and we still hearing stories like Trayvon’s, Is this a joke? how is the shooter still free? like Big Ug stated, if this guy just so happened to be a black man he would of been fighting his case from cell block 4!Through all the sadness one good thing came out of this situation and that is the way people are reacting to this tragedy I like the way the younger generation is taking it personal, marching and protesting for justice….and this is only the beginning!
